A SURVEY OF THE BUTTERFLIES [LEPIDOPTERA: HESPERIOIDEA, PAPILIONOIDEA] OF THE SHOALWATER BAY/BYFIELD REGION OF CENTRAL COASTAL QUEENSLAND.

A survey of butterflies done during 5 days in late July 2010, of 11 sites in the Shoalwater Bay / Byfield region of Central Coastal Queensland, resulted in 173 observations of 59 species. Previous surveys of the region as recorded on the Queensland Environmental Protection Agency's Wildnet Data Base resulted in 37 species being identified. Twenty-five of these were confirmed by the present survey and a further 34 "new" species identified.
