Perfect timing: JIM COOTES recounts a timely trip to Barrington Tops National Park in New South Wales, Australia

IN LATE OCTOBER 2007, I was invited to join a couple of my good friends, David Banks and Michael Harrison, on a trip to the World Heritage listed Barrington Tops National Park in the northwest of New South Wales, three hours' drive from Sydney. This was one trip I could not miss -1 had been unable to join them in a previous visit to the area, and from what I had heard of it, I did not want to miss out again.
