摘要

The brain is easily the most complex organ in the human body, so making a brain must be a formidable challenge. The new textbook Building Brains by David Price, Andrew Jarman, John Mason and Peter Kind aims at explaining neural development in a way that is accessible to undergraduate students as well as postgraduates without a background in neuroscience and/or molecular biology. The four authors are well-known neuroscientists and developmental neuro-biologists at the University of Edinburgh, jointly teaching a course on mechanisms of brain development to third-year undergraduates. Building Brains is the result of that teaching experience in the absence of an up-to-date textbook pitched at the right level.
