Vaginal Fractional CO_2 Laser: A Minimally Invasive Option for Vaginal Rejuvenation

Our objective was to provide evidence that the use of a fractional CO_2 laser in combination with the local application of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in the hypo-trophic or atrophic vaginal mucosa, accompanied by pelvic floor exercise with a perineometer, would have beneficial effects of great impact in the layers of the vagina, including the epithelium, lamina propria, and muscularis. We noticed a marked decrease of discomfort during sex, unlike what happens with the use of local estrogen, which produces effects only on the epithelium of the mucous layer.
