摘要

In Research Ethics Consultation: A Casebook, clinical research ethics consultation is broadly denned as "a service provided by a team of consultants to assist clinical researchers, IRB members, research participants, and others involved in the research enterprise in understanding and addressing ethical issues raised by clinical research" (1). If you work in a bioethics institute or serve on an institutional review board (IRB) at an academic health center, it is almost certain that at some point, a clinical researcher has sought your advice. Often, such conversations occur informally, although perhaps you serve on one of the growing number of formal research ethics consultation services. (According to the book's forward, written by Benjamin Wilfond, more than 75% of the 60 institutions receiving Clinical and Transla-tional Science Awards [CTSA] from the National Institutes of Health [NIH] have such a consultation service.)
