Whole-brain radiotherapy in primary CNS lymphoma.

In the November, 2010, issue of The Lancet Oncology, Francois-Xavier Mahon and colleagues1 suggest that some patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML),who have maintained a complete molecular remission (CMR) for at least 2 years, might be cured by standard (400 mg daily) imatinib mesilatetreatment.They conclude that a selected-although not defined-cohort of patients with CIVIL who are in CMR could be considered for drug discontinuation. These findings hold promise for further improvements in CML care, but they also raise two further issues.
