With the advent of increasing antibiotic resistance, group A beta-hemolytic Streptococcus (GABHS) pharyngitis remains a critical issue for the NP in prevention of suppurative and nonsuppurative complications. This article will review the most common poststreptococcal complications and the evidence to support antibiotic treatment of GABHS pharyngitis to prevent these complications.
