An attempt to identify volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds present in the Odra River waters

Within the framework of research described here, an attempt was made to identify wide range of volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds present in samples of riverine water. Twenty-five samples of water, collected from Odra River during the sample collection campaign carried out in October 2000 within the framework of the International Odra Project (IOP), have been analyzed with the use of a PT-TD-GC-MS (Purge and Trap - Thermal Desorption - Gas Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry) technique.A computerized analysis with the use of a mass spectrometer pointed to the presence of organic compounds of natural and anthropogenic origin.
