The multiple ligament injured (dislocated) knee is a devastating knee injury and a complex treatment challenge. The goal of this Special Focus Section of The Journal of Knee Surgery is to provide practical information to the reader for the evaluation and treatment of these complicated knee injuries. The issue begins with a review of the clinical anatomy of the knee, followed by the initial evaluation of the acute and chronic multiple ligament injured knee. A series of surgical technique articles follow, which address specific combined injury patterns: posterior and anterior cruciate ligament tears combined with medial side injuries, lateral side injuries, and combined medial and lateral side injuries (global laxity).
