All orthopedic surgeons are aware that the number of journals and publications devoted to hip arthroplasty is rapidly increas ing. Certainly, it is not possible that any one author can be aware of all the publications related to a particular topic. However, when a publication claims to be the first to address a specific topic, it is essential that both the authors and the reviewers for the Journal do a thorough literature review to verify if the claim is valid.
