摘要

In 2005, Mary Johnson and Susan Williams were diagnosed with colorectal cancer. Ms. Johnson, a United States resident, was prescribed a regimen of cetuximab, bevacizumab, and chemotherapy; she is still living nearly five years later. Unfortunately for Ms. Williams, a Canadian resident, her provincial government refused to pay for bevacizumab and the Canadian government mandated such a low price for cetuximab that the product was not launched in Canada. She died 15 months later.
