RISK MANAGEMENT, CERTIFICATION, accreditation, systems for compliance with local and International Standards all are requirements of doing business in today's global environment. In the face of what is often a confusing array of information and choice, how is a business to decide which forms of accreditation or certification will deliver the most benefit? According to SAI Global's General Manager, Accreditation, Mr Alex Ezrakhovich: "The need for an unambiguous, consistent approach which facilitates the certainty needed for trade is clear." One leading organisation that is addressing the issue is the International Accreditation Forum (IAF). The IAF is the world association of conformity assessment accreditation bodies and related organisations. It is charged with the task of developing a single world-wide accreditation program for the providers of conformity assessment services (or certification bodies), enabling them to issue accredited certificates of conformity.
