The primary objective of play is to have fun, but another very important aspect is that play should be safe and injury free. Members of Standards Australia's Committee CS-018 have been developing Standards to ensure that toys, regardless of origin, are safe. The current and upcoming toy safety Standards were developed utilising expertise on child development, dynamic safety testing, quality assurance engineering, risk analysis and basic anthropometric studies of children. In addition, retailers, regulators and consumer groups were involved to ensure that all stakeholders had a strong input. CS-018 has also worked closely with ISO Technical Committee 181, the international body responsible for global toy safety standardization.
