Environmental Management Systems

Standards Australia has just released the draft General guidelines on the verification, validation and assurance of environmental and sustainability reports. The draft (DR 03422) is available on Standards Australia's website www.standards.com.au and public comment closes on 21 October 2003. Committee QR-011, Environmental management systems, developed the draft Standard in response to the wide variety of styles and content of reports. The draft Standard describes reporting of environmental issues and performance and related social and economic information which is also part of sustainability reporting. The assurance process will deliver outcomes that are transparent, consistent, reliable, effective and when applicable, economic and efficient.
