Selection of-best ejaculates from the breeding bulls and its successful freezing has been instrumental for the wide spread use of Al as a tool of cattle and buffalo improvement throughout the world. But the main obstacle in meeting this goal is the poor quality, freezability and fertility especially of buffalo bull semen and lack of single reliable most accurate test for the same. Though, the percentages of sperms with normal morphology, progressive motility, intact acrosome and hypo-osmotic swelling reaction in the bovine semen have significant positive correlations with the cryo-resistance and fertility of that semen (Kumar et al., 1993; Prasad et al., 1999a, b), the information on these aspects in Gir cattle and Jafarabadi buffaloes is, however, meager. Hence an attempt was made to study and report the same.
