Hormonal Profile in Peri-Partuirient Buffaloes with Cervico-Vaginal Prolapse

Antepartum cervico-vaginal prolapse causing heavy economic losses to dairy farmers have been attributed to various etiological factors including elevated steroid concentration and faulty managemental conditions. It is a common problem which negativelyaffects the postpartum estrus, conception rate and calving interval of buffaloes. Peripartum hormonal changes affecting reproductive efficiency of buffaloes (El-Wishy, 2007), particularly high oestrogen concentrations increase the risk of cervico-vaginal prolapse (Akhtar et al., 2012). Present research work was therefore, undertaken to study the concentration of major steroid hormones during the peripartum period in buffaloes with antepartum cervico-vaginal prolapse.
