Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), in all its forms, is a quintessential herb. It looks beautiful year round in the garden; and it can transform an ordinary meal, filling the kitchen with mouthwatering aromas. A mug of rosemary tea helps - allegedly -to improve memory, and cure hangovers. Today rosemary is one of the top 10 culinary herbs for discerning cooks. However, this has not always been the case: in antiquity, it was used more as a devotional plant, and in the Middle Ages it was considered so valuable a medicinal plant that, in 1675, Rosmarin-Buchlein ('Rosemary Booklet') was published, with more than 200 medicinal rosemary recipes.
