Over the last few months robotics have been in the news with items on BBC Countryfile and other television programmes, and in newspapers; the use of drones in agriculture is often at the centre of new cutting-edge technology. It was therefore timely to take an in-depth look at how robotics can impact on farming in the UK.The Robotics Seminar organised by AHDB Horticulture at East Mailing Research featured Professor Salah Sukkarieh from the Australian Centre for Field Robotics (ACFR), University of Sydney. ACFR is one of the largest robotics research institutes in the world and has been instrumental in developing breakthrough technologies and in conducting world-leading research and the development of principles and systems in field robotics.
