REALISTIC DEMAND, AVAILABILITY AND PRODUCTION OF IRON ORE AROUND 2010 IN INDIA IN THE CONTEXT OF CHANGING SCENARIO IN IRON AND STEEL INDUSTRY AND EXPORT TRADE

摘要

The foregoing analysis of the present and future domestic as well as external demand clearly points to the fact that, given the comfortable resource position of Indian iron ores in terms of quantity and quality, India can meet future demand of iron ore in iron and Steel industry as well as considerably augment the exports of iron ore to the world market in future, particularly to the countries of Asia and emerge as a leading exporter to reckon with. The need of the hour is. to make concerted efforts to augment present production capacities by addressing urgently issues like, higher productivity through technology up-gradation, conservation, creation of suitable infrastructure, further exploration in known & unknown areas and putting into place a further liberalized policy, conducive and capable of encouraging more & more exports.
