Exploration, Mining and Mine Closure Present Status Vs Future Challenges In Iron Ore Mining

With the steel industry at take off stage & world Iron Ore demand, the Iron Ore Mining in the near future calls for the state of art technology for better productivity. Large mechanized mines will require adequate attention for optimizing the capacity utilization & development of high capacity equipment's.. For enplaning new deposits, latest exploration techniques such as remote sensing, geophysical method etc. needs to be utilized considering Iron Ore demand. Higher capacity equipment are required for improving productivity at the existing mines. With the introduction of computerization in many areas of mining people development through continued training plays important role to take benefit of new technology. Number of opencast Iron Ore Mines in India will be closed in the coming years. A vast scar on the lend in the form of uncared pits & dumps may be left unless land use planning, solid waste management are planned in advance & plan is excuted after mine closure.
