Fall is very much a reflective season for me. There's lots of work to do to get prepared for the onslaught of winter, but the long shadows and the strong, warm sun make me want to sit on the patio and ponder the season that has just passed. In some respects, 2006 proved different than any other gardening year, mainly because we visited the Mecca of Herb Gardens, the Chelsea Physic Gardens. Twelve years ago, for our 25th wedding anniversary, we decided we wanted to go to London, tour all the gardens,and see all the sites.
