摘要

Cardiovascular disease is endemic in patients with chronic kidney disease, though historically this high-risk group for cardiovascular disease has been excluded from study, resulting in the coining of the term "renalism" in the approach to providing care to the population with kidney dysfunction. Previous studies have shown an inverse association between level of kidney function and risk of cardiovascular disease, though few studies have included patients with milder forms of kidney disease, such as those with estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) > 60 mL/min/1.73 m . As such, the study by Arbel and colleagues in this issue of the Canadian Journal of Cardiology is a welcome addition to the literature on what is now increasingly termed the type 4 cardiorenal syndrome (chronic renocardiac syndrome).
