Amada America has introduced the C1 combination laser/turret punch press, designed to eliminate the need to tap holes as a secondary operation. The system's Multi-Purpose Turret (MPT) features four 1(1/4)-in. stations holding tapping tools, which are driven by the turret's autoindex mechanism. When tapping tools are not required, these four tap locations can be used to hold punching tools, increasing the turret capacity to 49 stations.
