When Vivek Gupta's father decided to launch a new business, timing wasn't on his side. The idea came during the late 1990's tech bubble; the implementation came during the bust a few years later. Nevertheless, today the business has 10 times the sales it did in 2003, and it has experienced 50 percent growth every year since 2004. The Carrollton, Texas-based metal fabricator, Texas ProFab, has 40 employees, and so Gupta, the company's managing director, concedes, "It's not as challenging to double [in size] than it is for a company with a bigger footprint."
