ITC makes recommendations, Defense Production Act extended

President Bush will have to decide by Fed. 19 what kind of import restrictions he will impose on the 12 steel product classes in which the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) found imports to be grinding the U.S. domestic industry into the ground.In its Oct. 22 decision, the ITC determined that U.S. manufacturers of six carbon and alloy flat products, three carbon and alloy long products, two carbon tube products, and two stainless and tool steel products had been seriously injured by foreign import as from a wide range of countries, or were threatened with injury.
