Nearly everyone knows that animals, including humans, need oxygen to survive and that plants require carbon dioxide. The latter compound in our atmosphere is increasing, scientists say, because of the burning of fossil fuels, and this is considered bad because it can lead to a negative global warming effect. Yet, in a positive counter to this possibility, researchers have demonstrated that plants grow better with more CO_2 in the air.
