A wonderful opportunity, at the tight time of the year

Few growers were to be seen at the annual Fleuroselect trials in the Netherlands in late April. The seven participating companies, between them putting a great deal of effort and money into the event, would have been not at all surprised. In late April very few growers anywhere in north Europe are easily persuaded to leave their nurseries. These trials are first and foremost for the international trade in seed and young plants, and there was no shortage of visitors from this business sector. At Pan American seeds they were more than happy to welcome three hundred visitors. They came from far and wide, and while I was at the Syngenta/Goldsmith trials it was common to be able to stand in one spot and hear English, Dutch, German and Italian all being spoken at the same time.
