An authoritatively estimate of about ten cent of the nation's patio tubs, window baskets and hanging baskets are replanted at the end of each summer. The rest -numbered in tens of millions - await the following spring. The percentage is based on surveys by BallColegrave staff. It fits in well with what can easily be seen in late autumn by everyone who walks a dog or has a train ride through an urban area. This all adds up to a huge potential increase in autumn sales of pansies and violas. And not only pansies and violas, a fact that accounted for 'Pansy Pals' as the theme of BallColegrave's open days late last year. There were almost two hundred varieties of 'Pals', in thirty genera, for visitors to look at, Nearly all had been either sown in weeks30 or 31 (late July) or started from plugs at this time or slightly later.
