Self-healing plastics red when 'wounded'

A NEW plastic has been developed that turns red when it's damaged and can self-heal when exposed to strong light, temperature or acid. Marek Urban, a professor of polymer science at the University of Southern Mississippi, US says that existing self-healing plastics can only repair themselves once, as they rely on embedded capsules containing healing compounds.
