THE EUROPEAN chemicals industry has witnessed double-digit growth in the past year but experts have warned this will slow significantly in 2011. Economists at the European chemicals trade group Cefic say the sector grew 10% year-on-year but forecast the recovery to cool to 2.5% in 2011. Hubert Mandery, Cefic director general, believes the recovery in demand was driven by inventory rebuilding, support measures and overseas demand.
