INVISTA is suing DuPont for more than 800m. The fibres and resins maker, which bought DuPont's nylon fibre business in June 2004 for 4.2b, claims that DuPont has not complied with environmental and safety legislation at several of its sites and has reneged on its contractual obligations to correct non-compliance. Koch Industries, Invista's owner, says that after the company took over the nylon fibre business, it quickly discovered that two plants in Texas, US, were operating illegally. One had been venting benzene directly into the atmosphere since 1992.
