摘要

Grades for medical students are heavily weighted towards medical knowledge and its synthesis in patient care. However, accountability is not applauded equally. Students may feel that professionalism is an afterthought in their evaluation process: its scores are frequently appended to the end of the form, with a dichotomous 'pass/fail' score. Therefore, medical students may feel that accepting accountability could negatively impact their grade. In reality, residency programmes are increasingly focused on non-cognitive domains, such as accountability, during candidate interviews.
