摘要

Anne Burkholder has a rigorous exercise program. She doesn't go to a gym, and she doesn't use exercise equipment like a stationary bike or a treadmill. Instead she walks. And she has plenty of exercise buddies — not friends or neighbors — but cattle. Burkholder isn't exercising for her own physical fitness, but for the health and well-being of the incoming cattle at her feedyard. Burkholder is the self-proclaimed "boss lady" at Will Feed Inc., a feedyard in Cozad, Neb. Raised in Palm Beach County,Fla., and educated at Dartmouth, Burkholder's resume does not naturally tend toward cattle feeding. But for the last 16 years, she's applied her Ivy League psychology degree to the cattle industry with success.
