Toda Kogyo has developed a low-cost reforming catalyst that is highly resistant to coking and sulfur poisoning even though it contains no precious metals. The user segment of residential fuel-cell cogcllcmtion systems is targeted for commercialization. The company used its expertise in iron oxide production to develop the catalyst, which consists of a porous carrier deposited with nickel nanopar-ticles that are less than 10 nanometers in diameter.
