OMV AG has started up a CCR Platforming unit at its Schwechat,Austria,refinery that is using a new catalyst developed by UOP LLC(Des Plaines,Illinois,US).The R-264 catalyst features high activity,density and selectivity,and reduced coking,says UOP.The spherical catalyst,containing 0.25 wt% platinum,is designed for use in continuous-catalyst-regeneration(CCR)applications,such as UOP's CCR Platforming process,which uses a moving bed reactor to convert low-quality naphtha,in the presence of H_2,into motor fuel blending stocks for gasoline,BTX(benzene,toluene,xylene)aromatics and high-purity H_2 for other H_2-consuming refinery processes.
