Asahi Kasei reported an 84% fall in net profts for its fscal frst quarter ended June 30, 2012, compared with the frst quarter of the previous fscal year, to ￥3.15 billion ($40 million). Sales decreased by 1%, to ￥365 billion, largely refecting the efects of decreased export demand and lower selling prices in the chemicals and electronics segments, partly alleviated by continuing favorable performance in the homes and health care segments, Asahi says.
