摘要

Infrared diode laser spectroscopy enables dynamic exhaust gas analysis with millisecond timeresponse. A spectroscopic analyser for the simultaneous measurement of two exhaust gascomponents at two sampling locations for operation under test bed conditions is described. Someresults obtained by means of this system on NO, CO, and CH{sub}4 at a number of renownedEuropean and US American automotive companies are presented thus illustrating the potential ofmeasurements with single cycle time resolution. Main areas of application are the detailed studies ofengine combustion, the test of combustion models, engine fine tuning for reduction of fuelconsumption and pollution emission, as well as the study of other fast chemical conversions.
