House Introduces Cosmetics Labeling Law

Representatives Edward Markey (D., MA) and Jan Schakowsky (D., IL) introduced a bill last week that would require stricter labeling require- ments for cosmetics and allow the FDA to recall products it deems dan- gerous to human health. The legislation, the Safe Cosmetics Act of 2011, is an updated version of a bill introduced last year with changes made to ease any potential burdens on small cosmetics manufacturers, the lawmakers say.
