EU Review Finds REACHDossier Quauality a Problem

The quality of the data featured in Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (Reach) dossiers submitted by industry in 2010 has presented problems that industry must work to address, according to Geert Dancet, executive director/European Chemicals Agency (ECHA; Helsinki). Dancet raised the concerns at a public forum today in Brussels to review the problems and identify lessons learned from the first Reach implementation phase, which took place at the end of 2010. Industry for its part raised its own concerns about the increasing administrative burden of Reach and, in particular, the difficulty of participating in Substance Information Exchange Forums (SIEFs).
