Failing our basic duty of care leaves pharmacy open to competition

cists who are not even performing their basic duty of care.I commend the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia for their great education and specialist training programs, but what about all those hundreds of pharmacies that aren't doing the basics, never mind specialising?How are we going to get these pharmacists to improve their level of practice? If all a patient gets asked when they go to a pharmacy is 'would you like a generic' and 'that's dollar4.70 thanks', as I was, then why wouldn't he/she go next door to the supermarket? Why is it that pharmacists have so successfully trained their staff to ask about generic substitution, but not about health issues?
