SABIC begins producing PBR, combines business units

SABIC announced that it has started commercially producing polybutadiene rubber (PBR) at the Kemya joint venture (JV) with ExxonMobil Chemical at Jubail, Saud Arabia. SABIC says it has also begun operations at an ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) unit at the same elastomers JV complex. The financial impact of the addition of the PBR plant will be reflected in SABICs fourth-quarter earnings, and the ExxonMobilCprocess EPDM facility is expected to reach full capacity in the first quarter of 2017.
