Ajinomoto to produce tryptophan amino acid in the US

Ajinomoto’s (Tokyo) wholly owned subsidiary Ajinomoto Animal Nutrition will begin production of feed grade tryptophan in the United States, the company announced on Monday. Ajinomoto Heartland (Chicago, IL) will begin producing the amino acid at Eddyville, IO in May 2017. The plant will be designed to produce about 3,000 m.t./year and will have design adjustment flexibility to respond to market conditions. The company will use its own fermentation technology.
