MACQUARIE irrigators were recently treated to an informative tour of northern NSW and southern Queensland to see first-hand the operation and management of alternative irrigation systems. Organised by NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) as partof the NSW Sustaining the Basin: Irrigated Farm Modernisation project, the tour highlighted the increasing interest in the bankless irrigation system.One of the gurus of the bankless system is Glenn Lyons, Irrigation Consultant, St George who has been designing bankless channel systems in southern Queensland for some time. Glenn was one of the main speakers on the recent tour.
