Total to Re-configure Dunkirk Refinery Site; Biofuel Cluster Planned

Total says it plans shut down its refining operations at Dunkirk, France permanently, in response to a decline in petroleum product demand. The refinery has been offstream since last September. Total, at the same time, plans to develop new refining operations and petroleum logistics activities on the Dunkirk site, as well as partner with French electricity group EDF to start up a liquefied petroleum gas (LNG) terminal project at the site. The collapse in petroleum product demand in France as well as other parts of Europe and the U.S., has compelled Total to adjust its refining capacity, in particular in northern France.
