Celanese and Sabic say their joint venture National Methanol Co. (Ibn Sina) will construct a 50,000-ton/year polyacetal (POM) plant at an unnamed site in Saudi Arabia. Total invested capital in the project is expected to be about $400 million, Celanese says. Engineering and construction is expected to begin later this year, the company says. The project will support future growth for Celanese's Ticona engineering poly- mers business, and will support Sabic's regional business development. The new plant is part of an extension of the Ibn Sina jv, which will now run through 2032.
