Solutia Expands PVB Sheet Production in Belgium

Solutia says it will upgrade its plant at Gent, Belgium to produce advanced acoustic polyvinyl butyral (PVB) sheet for automotive applications. The expansion will meet rising global market demand for acoustic glazing, Solutia says. The company currently has automotive acoustic production capacity at Santo Toribio, Mexico. Solutia did not disclose the planned capacity at Gent by CW press time. Solutia expanded its third extrusion line at Gent earlier this year to produce 3.2-meter wide rolls of advanced, multi-layer acoustic interlayer for the European architectural market. The Gent plant is the largest PVB sheet plant in the world, Solutia says.
