Kuraray to Build Acrylic Thermoplastic Elastomer Plant in Japan

Kuraray says it will build a facility to produce an acrylic thermoplastic elastomer at the company's Tainai, Japan site. The facility will have a capacity of 5000 m.t./year and is expected to become operational in September 2011. The acrylic thermoplastic elastomer, a block copolymer of methyl methacrylate and butyl acrylate, has been developed using Kuraray's proprietary technology. The company aims to have sales of ￥6 billion ($65 million) for the product by 2015 and ￥10 billion by 2018.
