Some would argue the most critical step in vibration testing is the fixture design. It is often overlooked by the product's designers and their managers, and inhibits the "instant gratification" that design engineers would like to achieve when they schedule their new products for vibration testing, often increasing the demands on the test engineer. This was experienced more frequently when working for a large corporation, directly with the design engineers; they would like their samples to go on test immediately. They do not want to wait for a fixture to be designed and built, especially if the product is going on test as an afterthought; to isolate a failure mode, for instance.
