This is our tenth "conversation" A-1 Testing Lab article. Henry Wolfe, A-1's soon-to-retire test engineer is speaking with Joseph A. "Joe" Youngman, young dynamic test engineer. They are in Henry's office, discussing a lab customer's requirement for vibration testing an exceptionally large unit. Henry points out that the DUT (device under test) attachment "footprint" in two of its axes is greater than the diameter of A-1's largest shaker. "What do you propose, Joe?" asks Henry. "I think I've seen a one-inch-thick flat aluminum plate we can use, Henry," suggests Joe. "I think it's already drilled for bolts to mount it on our largest shaker. That will give us the needed area and we'll be able to perform our customer's test."
