Manufacturing continued to expand as 2009 drew to a close, and so far there are no indications of a “double-dip” back into recession. Sales of manufactured products rose 1% in November, the third con- secutive increase. Shipments of durables were up 0.2%, while nondurables advanced 1.8%. Part of the increase in nondurables was the result of rapid gains in energy prices, however.
